Calabrian born Francesco Mazzei will bring the taste of Italy to Royal Ascot 2024 with a menu of Italian inspired classics for the Royal enclosure attendees to experience.
With a backdrop overlooking the Old Paddock Numero 7 is perfectly situated to provide a superlative culinary experience for visitors wanting to be close to the track and amongst the action.

Important dining information
We have a 15-minute grace period. Please let us know in advance if you are running later than 15minutes after your booked time.
As this restaurant is the only walk-up restaurant at Royal Ascot, demand for tables will be very high and we cannot guarantee, to hold your table longer than the stated grace period. Even if you have a reservation.
You will be asked for your name, address and your Ascot membership number as well as your credit card details to confirm the booking. The credit card holder will be responsible for all guests on the table.
We require your credit or debit card details in order to secure your reservation, however no money is charged to your card. A charge of £25.00 per person will only incur if you fail to turn up without notice or cancel your booking within 24 hours of your table reservation.
If you have not confirmed your reservation 24 hours prior to the booking, H Events reserves the right to cancel the reservation and resell the table.
Please note all bookings are subject to availability, which is on a first come, first served basis and you will receive a confirmation email to confirm the booking. Each table is allocated for a maximum of 80 mins per booking. These tables are not available for all day and numbers are strictly limited each session. We run three sittings so please do not be offended if we ask for your table back after the allotted time.
Any tables of 6 or more persons will only be able to be seated inside the enclosed restaurant area, not in the covered outside area.
Francesco Mazzei
Calabrian born Francesco Mazzei had his first taste of a professional kitchen working in his uncle’s Gelateria where he had mastered Italian cakes and gelato by the age of nine. It was at the age of fourteen where his natural talent was recognised by renowned Italian chef, Angelo Sabetto, who encouraged Francesco’s journey into becoming a chef himself.
After moving to Rome where he took a position at the Grand Hotel as a Sous Chef. Since then, his professional travels have included opening the Santini restaurants in Edinburgh and Milan and the Royal Sporting Club in Bangkok, as well as restaurants in London, United States and Mumbai.
L’Anima, Francesco’s first restaurant opened in London in 2008 with a menu inspired by traditional cooking from Calabria, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia. In 2015, Francesco took up a position as Chef Patron at D&D’s Sartoria on Savile Rowe in Mayfair. Followed by Radici which opened in 2017, showcasing simple Calabrian cooking in a relaxed and rustic Islington site. Followed closely with Fiume in Battersea, which is inspired by southern Italian flavours from the coastal regions and islands off Italy including the Amalfi coast, Sardinia and Sicily.
Francesco is passionate about his charity work both in the UK and abroad, his love of football and delivering the best plate of food with every dish.

Frankie Dettori MBE
Living legend Frankie Dettori is a true champion within his own sport of horseracing. Having ridden winners in every racing country around the world he made history at Ascot on 28th September 1996 when he rode every winner on the seven race card for his very own ‘Magnificent Seven’.
Frankie has now smashed almost all known horse racing records with over 70 victories at Royal Ascot alone, Ascot is where his heart is. He has won the Ascot Gold Cup 7 times and become the highest winning jockey in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with 7 victories. 7 is his number!!
Frankie is also not shy in front of the camera and has expanded his career to making many appearances on television at the highest level. He has co-hosted BBC’s ‘A Question of Sport’. As well as his own emotional film telling the “rollercoaster” story of his life and career for Sky Documentaries. Frankie’s second book, Leap of Faith, documents his true passion and love of his sport.
He lives in Newmarket, Suffolk with his wife Catherine and their five children Leo, Ella, Mia, Tallulah and Rocco.
In 2021, for the third year running, Frankie was officially named the world’s best jockey, a title based on jockeys’ performances in the 100 highest-rated Group One and Grade One races around the globe in 2020.
2023 and at the age of 52 Frankie is jumping out of the saddle for the very last time, he will be celebrating a life of wins, achievements and of course the Magnificent seven at this year’s Royal Ascot.
